"Dragon Hoops" is a great little American "novel"

An impressive feat of illustrated journalism signed by Gene Luen Yang, National Ambassador for Youth Literature in the United States, National Book Award finalist, Printz Award winner and Eisner Award winner. "Dragon Hoops" narrates in a compelling way the hopes of victory of the basketball team at the high school in Oakland where Gene Luen Yang taught for 17 years and, at the same time, the history of basketball, a sport that in Italy has more than a million between players and fans. Yet "Dragon Hoops" is not just a graphic novel about sport, it is a hymn to courage and determination against racism and any discrimination. Gene doesn't do sports. As a child, his friends called him "Stick" and every basketball game he played ended in pain. He lost interest in basketball a long time ago, but in high school where he now teaches, that's what everyone is talking about, because the high school team is having a phenomenal season, which has been expected for decades. Each win brings them closer to their ultimate goal: California State Championships. Gene Luen Yang knows he has to follow this epic to the end. What he doesn't know yet is that this season will not only change the life of the Dragons, but also his own life. "Engaging, fun and full of insights" New York Times
